“Power is the people’s: a sadly forgotten fact.” -- Patrick Joyce, author
Power is having freedom of choices, including saying, "NO!" |

GO FIGURE, I move to Newtown and the St. Ann’s taxi-drivers stage
a strike.
I can’t even fuss;
because I’m on the side of the drivers, who refuse to put up with line-cutting warahoons (the
extremely uncouth) anymore. It’s ever so admirable when people unite to
challenge unfairness of any kind – offence often being the best defence. This I
call Stop to
Conquer. Unlike stooping to conquer, you don’t bend over to take a stand,
you come to a standstill to make a stand-off.
There are hordes of
coming-election detractors, attacker, lambasters (censurers)
telling folks how to convey their dissatisfaction with Government and politics
in la-La Trinity-land. But, nobody mentions that one way to sucker-punch all
the politrickies is by simply declining to vote. Wouldn’t that go a long way
towards quelling supercilious Pandaymonium and
messing up dishonest Manningfestos?
No means ... maybe?
"Power is the
people’s: a sadly forgotten fact."
We’ve already tried to
better our cards by voting dickities in and out, time and again; so now we
should try to effectuate change via an all-out boycott.
No, that will not automatically
set power into the hands of the ruling party; though it will demonstrate how
jaded we are about politics, politicians and Government on the whole.
Corruption is the order
of the day, even inside the party we plan to vote for come election day. Admit
it.
We settle in love, in
work, in many areas of our lives. Sometimes to truly induce change, we must not
settle for the lesser of how many evils. Rather, we should just say “No” to it
all. Many options beyond the known and familiar can be revealed thus.
A leap of faith may
involve falling. But other times it requires a refusal to be moved.
